Rubber O ring is a mechanical sealing gasket in the shape of a loop of elastomer with a round cross-section, designed to be seated in a groove and compressed during assembly between two or more parts, creating a seal at the interface.
Rubber O rings can be produced by extrusion, injection molded,compression molded and transferring molded.

O-rings are one of the most common seals used in machine design because their advantage of inexpensive, easy to make, reliable and have simple mounting requirements. The pressure they can stand is thousands of psi.
Viton (FKM): With good resistance to chemicals, oils, high temperature extremes (-22°F to +482°F), good performance of low compression set, low gas permeability and excellent aging characteristics, O rings made in Viton are larged used in aircraft engines, automotive fuel handling systems, chemical processing industries, and high vacuum applications. Weakness is ketones, alkalis, and Skydrol® fluids.
Nitrile (NBR): Also called Buna-N, is a widely used elastomer material because of its great resistance to lubricant and grease, and its relatively low cost. Temperature range is -40°F to +248°F. It's an ideal material for auto industry, aerospace and gas applications. Its weakness is low resistance to ozone, weathering and aging. Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR) has considerable improvement of the resistance to heat, ozone, and aging, and gives it good mechanical properties while increasing temperature range to +300°F.
Ethylene-Propylene / EPDM: EPDM temperature range is -40ºF to +30ºF, has excellent resistance to heat, water and steam, detergents, caustic potash solutions, sodium hydroxide solutions, silicone oils and greases, many polar solvents and many diluted acids and chemicals.
Silicone / VMQ: Silicone compounds are physiologically harmless so they are popular in food and medical applications. Excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and aging, temperature range -85ºF to +400ºF.
