Characteristics of POM:1. It is unnecessary to dry POM before processing, it can preheat it during processing (about 80℃), which is beneficial to the stability of product size.2. Air permeability: the air permeability of POM is small, only a fraction of that of PE.3. Shrinkage: the high degree of crystallization of POM leads to a fairly high shrinkage, up to 2%~3.5%.4. Mechanical property: the mechanical property of POM is quite good, with high elastic modulus, low and stable friction coefficient, good wear resistance and self-lubrication. It has high hardness and rigidity, very close to metal. Good dimensional stability, small water absorption, resistance to repeated impact, small strength change. Its tensile strength and modulus are close to that of steel and good fatigue strength. The fatigue resistance of thermoplastic materials is the most superior variety. It can withstand more than one million times of repeated loading. The change of mechanical properties with temperature is small, and the copolymerization ratio is slightly larger.5. Heat resistance: POM has poor heat resistance. It is easy to degrade and release formaldehyde at the molding temperature. With a higher thermal deformation temperature, the homopolymerization was 136℃, the copolymerization was 110℃.Decomposition at above 220℃ produces formaldehyde gas, which can be used at 140℃ for a short time and at -40 ~ 100℃ for a long time.6. Climate resistance: POM has poor climate resistance. Long-term exposure in the atmosphere will lead to aging.Stabilizer should be added for outdoor application.7. Chemical property: POM has strong drug resistance, and is resistant to organic solvents, oils, weak acids and weak bases. In addition to strong acids, phenols and organic halides, it is stable to other chemicals. The production of its master color, also far more demanding than the general resin. Polyformaldehyde cannot be colored with dyes because of its crystallinity. 8. Electrical property: the electrical insulation of POM is good, and it is hardly affected by temperature and humidity;Excellent arc resistance and can be maintained at high temperature.
