In Southeast Asia, the average price of RSS3 in Thailand was US$1,673 per ton, up 5.2% from the previous month and down 3.1% from the previous year. The average price of SIR20 in Indonesia was US$1,460 per ton, up 9.0% from the previous month and down 1.8% from the previous year. The average price of SMR20 in Malaysia was US$1,449 per ton. The chain rose by 3.8%, down 0.8% year-on-year.

2. Natural rubber futures prices fell

In March 2019, the Shanghai Futures Exchange's main contract (1905) averaged 11,957 yuan per ton, down 1.1% from the previous month and down 2.5% year-on-year. On the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, the main contract for rubber (1908) settled at an average price of 193.9 yen per kilogram (a discount of 11,733 yuan), up 0.9% from the previous month and up 3.0% year-on-year.


In March 2019, the national synthetic rubber production exceeded 1.35 million tons.


According to the statistics of the “China Rubber Products Industry Market Demand Forecast and Investment Strategic Planning Analysis Report” published by the Prospective Industry Research Institute, the national synthetic rubber production showed an increasing trend in the second quarter of 2018, and the national synthetic rubber production reached the whole in 2018. It was 5.59 million tons, a cumulative increase of 7.1%. As of March 2019, the national synthetic rubber output was 503,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%. On the cumulative side, the national synthetic rubber production in the first three months of 2019 reached 1.352 million tons, an increase of 1.1%.

According to the data, China's natural and synthetic rubber imports increased gradually in the first four quarters of 2018. In March 2019, China's imports of natural and synthetic rubber (including latex) were 581,000 tons, up 56.6% from the previous month. 578,000 tons increased slightly by 0.5%. From January to March 2019, the import volume of natural and synthetic rubber (including latex) in China reached 1.571 million tons, a cumulative decrease of 4.9% year-on-year, which was 3 percentage points lower than that in January-February.


In terms of import value, the import value of natural and synthetic rubber in China increased gradually in the first four quarters of 2018. In March 2019, the import value of natural and synthetic rubber in China was US$865.5 million, down 10.7% year-on-year.
